The SCNCF issues grants to organizations which are engaged in activities designed to promote conservation of the biodiversity of both St. Kitts and Nevis.
Grants from the SCNCF can be used to support a wide range of both marine and terrestrial conservation related activities.

Concept Notes and full Grant Proposals, which contribute to supporting top priority terrestrial biodiversity and ecosystem conservation, protection, maintenance and rehabilitation activities within Eligible Sites should include one or more of the following objectives:
Activity may include the following, which is not intended to be an exhaustive list.
To be eligible for a conservation grant from the SCNCF, the applicant must: have continuously maintained active operations in St. Christopher and Nevis for at least three (3) years prior to the grant date.
Public Sector Agencies of the Government of St. Christopher and Nevis responsible for marine and/or terrestrial protected areas regulation and environmental regulation.
Local Universities, Colleges, and High Schools (including any departments and faculties thereof) conducting activities relevant to the goals and objectives of the Fund.
Non-government Organizations which are established and existing in St. Kitts and Nevis for not less than three (3) years. NGO's established less than three years ago, and/or NGO's with no established track record of successful delivery of projects may partner with another applicant that meets the criteria for establishment.
Private corporations or other companies from relevant industries involved in marine and/or terrestrial ecosystem and biodiversity clean-up, protection, conservation and/or monitoring services. Private corporations must not generate a profit through project activities.
Local Community Associations and other Community Bodies having a direct impact on, or whose activities directly relate to, marine or terrestrial biodiversity and ecosystem resources (e.g., fisher folk associations, youth groups, church groups).
Other appropriate local entities of St. Christopher and Nevis working toward the vision, mission, and goals of the SCNCF.
Examples of the types of projects that SCNCF will support include the following:
Natural resource and biodiversity management activities: Recurrent management of natural resources and biodiversity conservation programs (excluding operations and administrative costs and staff salaries), such as trainings on climate change adaptation for terrestrial ecosystems, implementation of restoration activities, and development of management plans.
Climate Change adaptation and mitigation, as it relates to biodiversity, including those designed to achieve the objective of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change or other multilateral environmental agreement or international convention
Education and awareness: Activities that promote building community awareness about biodiversity and conservation (e.g., climate change awareness, natural resource and biodiversity regulations).
Technical support/capacity building: Institutional strengthening and capacity-building on specific topics (e.g., climate change adaptation, alternative livelihoods), including travel costs to capacity building and training programs for government staff and other entities eligible to receive funding from SCNCF.
Scientific Research: Grant programs designed to support conservation- oriented research (e.g., collection of baseline data on pollution and water quality, monitoring of restoration sites).
Basic equipment/tools: Small infrastructure, travel capacity, and supplies related to specific natural resources and biodiversity management projects.
Policy: Projects designed to result in strengthening the legal and policy framework for conservation of ecosystems (e.g., identify gaps in the legal/policy framework for PAs; identifying government champions to support conservation).
Livelihoods: Projects focused on engaging communities in developing and implementing sustainable and alternative livelihood projects, such as ecotourism enterprises.
